You are at risk from flu and entitled to a free flu jab if you
are:
and all those aged over 6 months with underlying medical conditions
such as:
- diabetes requiring
insulin or oral hypoglycaemic drugs.
- chronic respiratory conditions
including chronic bronchitis, emphysema and cystic fibrosis.
It also includes severe asthma where the person requires continuous
or repeated use of inhaled or systemic steroids
- serious heart disease
including diseases such as chronic ischaemic heart disease,
congenital heart disease and hypertensive heart disease that
require regular medication/and or follow-up and chronic heart
failure.
- kidney disease including diseases such
as nephrotic syndrome, chronic renal failure and renal transplantation.
- liver disease
- having cancer treatment
- lowered immunity due
to HIV, other disease or treatment
Additionally, if you are:
- resident in a long-stay residential
care home
- the main carer for an elderly or disabled
person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill
If
you have a serious allergy to hens' eggs or if you have ever had
a serious allergic reaction to the flu vaccine, you shouldn't
get the flu vaccination.
