Health Visiting
The
health visitors are qualified nurses working as part of the Primary
Health Care Team with your GP and other community nurses. They
have additional training in Family and Child Health, Health Promotion
and Education. They work in partnership with families and young
children. They provide emotional and practical support with everyday
difficulties that may affect health, including postnatal depression,
housing and domestic violence. The health visitors will see babies
after the age of 10 days, first at home, then in the child health
clinics which are held in the medical centre on Wednesdays from
1:30 to 3pm and on Thursdays from 10:30 to 12 noon.
The
child health clinics are "drop-in" clinics: no appointment
is necessary. Children requiring immunisations will be invited
to come on a specific day. Please do not bring ill children to
the child health clinics. They should be seen by appointment in
the normal consulting sessions.
You
may contact your health visitors by ringing 01865 794502. If they
are out in the community, please leave a message on the answer
machine.
